Our Principal Beliefs

Every child deserves the right to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment, connecting with others facing shared feelings of loss.
Every individual has the capacity to heal.
Duration and intensity of grief is individual and unique; every person deserves to have their grief witnessed, shared, and understood.
Grief literacy within our schools, workplaces, and community is essential to creating a compassionate society that understands how to best support the bereaved.

What is a peer-to-peer grief center for children and families?

WNYCC creates a supportive, understanding community where families can find hope, healing, and resilience together. It is a place where children and families who have lost a loved one come together for mutual support in a group setting.

A peer-to-peer model builds a unique environment where children and families can share their grief with others who “get it.” When children and families can connect with peers who have had similar experiences it is often reassuring and helps reduce feelings of isolation.
